Sharon Osbourne has been severely criticised for saying that the McCann's were insane for leaving Madeleine alone on the night she vanished Sharon made the remarks on an American chat show while discussing parents leaving children alone, she has now been blasted as ignorant and ill informed, but it's true that Madeleine was left alone.
Countless people have that view of the McCanns, just because people find Sharon a loudmouth with druggy kids is no reason for her to keep her opinions to herself. All a bit of a storm in a teacup, it was just a comment in a passing TV discussion.
According to my Oxford dictionary, a definition of insane is
'extremely foolish' - which they were, but why anyone is concerned about what luvvies and celebs think is beyond me.
Hmmm, why is she such a bad parent then? Every parent, including mine, who had children at Uni in 70s and 80s were hence bad parents because I hardly knew any students who didn't take or smoke something or other. Her kids love her don't they?
She didn't actually say they were insane, she said it was an insane thing to do and I agree with her, and I'm sure the McCanns are aware of this too, which is patently obvious every time I see Kate McCann's haunted face.
Despite orders, pleas, protestations and even bribes, we were unable to stop our 3 from even smoking cigarettes.
Sad we didn't bring them up "properly", still, they've all turned out pretty well.
Viv...yes of course they can.....I was just quoting my own family's experience. But if the right groundwork is put in, then the chances are that it will pay off in end.
We were brought up to be polite, hard-working, honest and decent, and I see the same characteristics in the next generation, in the form of my nieces and nephews, who are a credit to any family.
///Motley....my Mum managed to bring up her four boys, without any of us becoming drug users.///
Jolly good, but I've no idea how that equates to the OP.
