The EU has no money. All it has is cash appropriated from donor nations which it then decides to distribute as it thinks fit. The UK is one of the largest donors to the EU budget. Only Germany, France and Italy contribute more, but they receive far more back than the UK does. The UK gets around 50% of its donations back but it must be spent as directed by the EU. The support the EU gives to the UK Arts industry is a small part of this returned money. If we leave the EU the UK will have twice as much money to distribute than the EU currently provides. Furthermore, it will be able to spend it as we think fit, not as the Euromaniacs dictate.
Does this make it easier for you to understand?

//Will The Arts Survive Brexit? - Yes
Do you particularly care? - Yes, the Arts reflect our culture//
We aren't supposed to have any culture. That's us being exclusive, and small minded, little Britains. If we promote it or celebrate it we are obviously racist. Culture is what everyone else is entitled to cherish, and maintain, not us.

This is from the Art Newspaper;
The leading UK artist Tacita Dean, who has been based in Berlin for the past 15 years, says that the prospect of the UK voting to leave the Europe Union (EU) in the much anticipated referendum on 23 June fills her “with cold dread”. Brexit could make London as an art centre “provincial once more”, she fears.
For a 'leading UK artist' I have never heard of her have you? and why does she live in Berlin? the answer I suspect is because she is picking up some funding from the EU and the cold dread is the self-serving fear that it might be cut off and nought to do with the political future of Britain
Dean is making a work that is partly inspired by the prospect of Brexit and has a Shakespearean dimension. “I am making the largest blackboard drawing I have ever embarked upon," she says. "It is based on The Tempest and is 32-foot long. As I often write on the boards things that come into my head as I draw..."
That should really convince the population back in the UK!

Thousands of people visit London every year and as part of their visit many do the theatre - apart from having to fill in some more paper to come I doubt that will affect them much more so why should the arts be significantly affected. Maybe stop paying the ovepaid ones so much would make them more sustainable.
The Arts will suffer no more than any other medium.
The paperwork for getting a EU grant is horrendous.
We had one for a back to work programme and EVERYTHING had to be accounted for. They went through the finances with a fine tooth comb including questioning a receipt for a packet of biscuits that had got torn.
It made us laugh considering the EU accounts have never been ratified.

Don't be such a pessimist, Sandy. Great art doesn't have to cost too much.
