The equivalent here might be if MPs voted to acknowledge the bombing of Dresden as a war crime. That would result in a very vociferous counter arguement.
Many UK MPs and public figures have received death threats for the most innocent of opinions, so you should not guage the population by the actions of a few.
Most of Europe are probably opining that the UK is full of thugs if they are judging us by the few idiots in Marseille.

I think we would witness the Turkish mentality if any of those 11 visited Turkey. Erdogan is a nutcase and I wouldn't be surprised by any actions he sanctioned.
Why does Merkel love him so?

Gromit, we note once again your tacit support for a deed condemned by most of the world's governments as being genocide, the slaughter of in excess of 1,000,000 Christian Armenians, with the throwaway, "incident a hundred years ago". Then to try and muddy the pool further by comparing it to the bombing of Dresden, whilst fighting a vicious Nazi regime who had been bombing British cities and civilians for years, is heinous to say the least. If those two stances were not contentious enough you then proceed to somehow include people who, with every latest news report, now appear to have been the victims of planned Russian thugs attacking them.
I have no problem calling the massacres in Armenia, genocide. My support is not tacit.
I do not think the bombing of Dresen was a war crime, I was saying any Mp that voted that it was would receive death threats.
I cannot defend the drunken English hooligans in France. They do not represent me. If you think they are the victims, it is no wonder you are deluded.

Strange that from virtue signaller in chief. "They do not represent me". Ahh that's OK then, I don't care what happened, but I do like to use the event as a warped example for my brief. The question is not who represents you Gromit, more "what do you represent"? I think the Turkish reaction, from the President down, is wholly representative of the Turkish attitude to the crimes committed.
The English football hooligans in France are all nice boys, who were minding their own business when they became victims of those nasty Russians.
Do you really believe that tosh?
Those evil UEFA foreigners are now threatening to disqualify the English football team if the English fans allow themselves to be beaten up again. Yet another reason to vote OUT.

Perhaps the Turks will apologise, just like the British government will then, swiftly followed by the Russian organised thugs.

any genocide was committed under the Ottoman regime. A lot of Turks died overthrowing that regime. It's understandable if they don't feel like bearing any responsibility for the actions of the sultans they got rid of. A bit like accusing modern Britons of responsibility for their slave-owning forebears (and I know how cross that makes modern Britons).
