At the moment the president of the USA is addressed as Mr President. If Hilary Clinton gets voted in will she be addressed as Mrs President or Miss President or something else?
We already have a fairly similar situation here, where the Deputy Speakers of the House of Commons are referred to as 'Mister Deputy Speaker' or 'Madam Deputy Speaker', as appropriate.
Similarly, many local clubs and organisations refer to 'Mr Chairman' or 'Madam Chairman' at their meetings.
But is it ma'am as in 'ham', or ma'am as in 'farm'? I can never remember, and I need to find out, because I think I might be up for an O.B.E. later this year.
