//Field Marshal Lord Guthrie said he had changed his mind because he was concerned at moves to create a European army, which he said would be a "disaster". The former defence chief said that while he felt "more European than I do American" it was "absolutely unrealistic to think we are all going to work together".

"When things get really serious, we need the Americans. That's where the power is. //

"but that is what the electors want isnt it ?"

No. they want promises kept unless the public opinion has decided something needs to change. It's pointless claiming, "this is so", or, "that won't happen", and then we all finding it meant nothing.
You are not going to get the 'full facts' about what tomfoolery the EU aristocracy are up to, even if the source of the 'full facts' is a website called fullfact.org.
Sounds like they're just revealing the one anyway.
A European Army is one of the dreams of Jean-Claude Juncker, fomer mayor of the town of Luxembourg, a tin-pot town in an insignificant country.
His basic salary by the way, is £245,629 - what his expenses amount to, your guess is as good as mine (the books are closed).
A European Army would require, like the US , a Commander in Chief (The President). Who would that be, someone like him?
We could not be forced to join an army that we do not want to. The UK would have to agree to joining, and no British Government would do. Corbyn certainly would not agree, and Cameron has already said no.
I beg to differ, Gromit. If we vote to remain, we will be ignored and eventually pressure will be brought to bear in many areas to force our compliance. Our Veto will bring such consequences, if we use it, that we may as well forget about it, i.m.o..

We have stayed outside the EuroZone and the Schengen Area. Opting out of the EU Miltary Force would be the same.
As far as the UK is concerned, a EU Army is a non starter.
