I saw a poster today and it said "Save the NHS - Vote stay" and I thought We have been in the EU for years and the NHS has never been in the dire state that its in now..So, quite what being in the EU has done so far for the NHS, I fail to see.

237SJ - not the point I made - but something to do with job security, I imagine and an inability to project to future hardships as well as being somewhat detatched from the reality - living on sheets of stats. and figures proving efficiency with current situation and nothing to do with people suffering. Just a thought. Managers, not doctors.

To answer Svejk and S237SJ I have no idea why the head of the NHS (who ever he or she is) is voting to stay - all I know is that we are bombarding with articles on the state of the NHS on a daily basis - and how much money it needs and how many more hospitals it will need to cope in future.. All this is happening and we're in the marvellous EU.. My local hospital is only a few years old and is already having its A&E dept extended to cope with the amount of people coming in - many of whom, don't have a GP.

Daisynonna... I thought about this, and if you think about it by taking the kidney off all of the pork chops that go through the system (for want of a better word) they are then sold on separately to people who want for e.g. kidneys alone or kidneys to mix with steak to make the steak and kidney pie. Its just another money spinner.

I've lived long enough to think that that might be a convenient excuse 237SJ.
If on our own, why couldn't we maintain these rights through our own government (which would have to answer to the electorate if it didn't keep them going)?

I am going vote LEAVE. As I can remember as a small child the referendum to join the Common Market as it was then as a good thing for Great Britain which I now think it was.
We had a leaflet through the door last week (which was neither stay or leave) but factual IMO. And it asked questions one of which was . If we had not joined would we join now with Turkey and states from the former Yugoslavia wanting in. No we probably would not.
IMO what we joined was something entirely different to what is now and we need to take back control to keep our nation Great. We still need imports and the rest of the world will still need our exports.

Britain has a long history reaching back for a thousand years during which time Germany and France et al, were comparatively nowt but a collection of squabbling principalities, and anyway, the most compelling argument has to be that all the leavers seem to be nice people and quite jolly, while the stayers are all miserable sourpusses: so there!

That's the comment headline. The vote remain bit makes it clear. They're encouraging folk to abandon this great nation and accept rule by an unelected elite who have no interest in the requirements of the citizens. They have hit a new low.
