It's beginning already! We're in Greece, no cash exchange & no cash machine withdrawals for Brits. Great.

Also read: Those holidaying to the US have already seen a 10% crash against the dollar to just $1.33 – the lowest in 30 years.

Stay at home year??

^Hey ho. Night all.
I can only relay what my friends have said . However I'm sure they're not alone .Why would anyone wish to make it up ? Surely regardless of what happened yesterday and wherever you laid your hat a smidgeon of simple caring for our fellow Brits wouldn't go amiss , you'd think anyhow .
Wasting you're breath Maggie,no negativity will be tolerated from the brexits. :-)
This is just the first day. It could also be the last, of course, but we established long ago that for some people even a long-term recession was totally worth it if it meant "escaping" the shackles of the EU...

Some shackles, by the way. "Hey, can we go?" "Yeah sure, if you want I guess." ...
I told the wife, we'd been better off in Blackpool;
Dahlia_Lama, doubtless they're not making it up - just over-reacting to a temporary situation.

Ah yes. Because the 'remains' are/were oh-so tolerant and rational. Not.

Cameron saying that Britain leaving the EU would cause a continental war, essentially WW3. That leaving the EU would cause economic collapse, not just in the UK, but world-wide. Pathetic. Truly pathetic. Scaremongering par-excellence. Yet it didn't wash with the electorate who saw through the lies and BS and voted for democracy, sovereignty and accountability.
I suppose the euphoria being experienced by Brexiters in the UK has blocked out their capacity to comprehend the information that we are getting here in the US. ISIS rejoicing in the result as the chaos will enable them have an easier time attacking Europe; US companies considering moving their operations from the UK to another country; and the financial turmoil leading to recession. All this to keep those nasty EU foreigners out. Only problem is half of the foreigners working in the UK are not from EU countries.

We've made our beds, we must lie in them.
We booked our holiday to Cape Verde yesterday for mid December. It's all inclusive so we won't need much spending money.

We managed to secure the holiday for the same price it was the previous day.
Cape Verde is in Africa, not in Europe-that's why! Honestly!
What's that got to do with the original question?

Cape Verde is situated off the coast of Africa, it's not part of Africa. The official currency is the Cape Verdean Escudo (given they belong to the Portuguese) but these are worthless outside your resort and you're widely recommended to take euros instead. That's right, EUROS.

JESUS WEPT....
From The Sun;
///One Brit on holiday in Kos, Matt Rooney, tweeted: “It’s beginning already! We’re in Greece, no cash exchange & no cash machine withdrawals for Brits. Great #brexitfail”///

Slightly misleading there, maggie. I can well imagine someone with your leanings being loathe to quote The Sun or The Daily Mail, but really,,,,
If it was in The Sun, it MUST be true.... ;)
Aye, if only I'd known of these dire consequences on Thursday morning. But there we are....
*Chuckle*
I'd have thought Greece would wish to encourage tourism rather than let their banks pee folk off. They must be doing better than they claim if they can afford that. Or maybe it's an indication of one reason why they have economic issues. Nothing wrong with holidaying in the UK. Used to be the norm when I was a kid. But if going abroad I guess one needs to choose a country that doesn't have a reputation for inhospitablity to their guests then.
I hadn't realised that the £ exchange rate hadn't fallen in Cape Verde. I must go buy some Cape Verdean dollars then.
