The Spanish authorities don't want any precedent set by Scotland to be used by the Catalans.

Have, rather than has.^^^
Yes - but I don't think Spain would have been alone in scuppering Nichola's plans.
It would have been an additional incentive but I suspect an unnecessary one.
I'd forgotten about the Catalans - good.
Shove that up your wee kilt hinny
Nicola, not Nichola, the Catalans get fussy about how their names are spelt.
This is quite an appropriate thread actually because the Spanish attitude to Catalonia is equally dismissive.
This is nothing new. It was the case when Eck The Rotund was in charge, remains so with Mini Me and will be for the foreseeable future.

Jim, the attitude to Scotland isn’t dismissive. The Scots voted against independence.
Two years ago, in different circumstances, and some at least might have changed their mind or have cause to reconsider.
"We'll back your application if you, the UK, give Gibraltar back......"
Some may have - we don't know - but as it stands it's not fair to accuse the country of being dismissive.
This isn't really 'news'; Scots have known about the Catalan fly-in-the-ointment possibility for years.
Problems are there to be overcome. After all, had the Scottish electorate voted for independence in 2014, the country would already be well on the way to separation from the UK and the Spanish government could ‘go hang’, as they say! The exact same can be said should there be another such independence referendum north of the border.
Crikey, the last response above when I started typing was the one timed at 17.27!
"Some may have - we don't know..."

We do know, because I'm one of them. Ain't the only one either.
Scotland voted to stay. Its wishes weren't dismissed.
Just to be clear, the dismissive comment I had in mind was "Shove that up your wee kilt hinny".
Now I'm confused. Who's saying that?
.... and why? You got your referendum.
