That's a hefty fine. They mean business! Their country and their rules. Good luck to them. Let's hope their wishes are respected.
What are we waiting for?

The end of the right-on PC brigade and a re-write of the HRA.

In comparison the French fine is puny (120 euros or $200)
Apart from some initial demos of non compliance back in 2010 and a couple of arrests for wearing a Burqua the Muslim women in France seem to have managed in the last 6 years without the need for them. Life goes on.
Never gonna happen here !
Well, reading the article it appears the biggest effect it will have is to reduce tourism - if they wish to lose that revenue in the Canton so be it.

I am sure the Swiss will bear that loss quite easily from muslim tourists.
I am sure the Vatican city does a thriving business still even though women are required to dress respectfully and at least cover their arms. :-)

Hopefully they are happy to be putting the subjugation of women in front of making a few Francs.

Why would we want to ban the Burka ? It isn't any concern of mine what women want to wear, nor should it be.

What business is it of anybody else what a woman wears ?

Why can't we live and let live ?

Those would be the burqua wearers I assume?
Well, if the women wearing burkas had large amounts of ugly tattoos, we would hardly know about it would we Retro ?

Do try to keep up !
Mikey...what about the women that don't chose to wear it but 'have' to?

Why can't we live and let live ?

What even the fat ugly tattooed ladies?
Ummm....perhaps they should start to rebel then, and we should be giving them encouragement to do so, not passing daft laws.
'A French-Algerian businessman' is facing a fine? What is he? A cross-dresser?

Good for them!
They are rebelling if you get of your _ _ _ ass and look around you
I am all in favour of banning the subjugation and coercion of women , not sure this route will achieve that.

It is changing hearts, minds and long held beliefs we need to work on , not just the clothing.
