Once again im angered by the phrase "suspect already known to the authorities" that was trotted out this morning on the news. I'm tired of hearing this!

If they're "known", ship the *** to a country they profess to love before they can commit something like this.
Its hard to imagine the level of hatred, and the belief that your version of religion in any way negates these terrible acts. 84 people including children dead and many injured for a tainted view of a religion which claims to be peaceful - if every Imam is not standing at the door of their mosque this morning denouncing this act they are condoning it.
The driver had ID papers .According to these he is alleged to be a French Tunisian.
Doesn't alter the fact he was apparently "known" to the authorities Retro.
BOO
I am aware of that fact. There was doubt of his nationality/religion earlier this morning on this post. I am merely stating the latest info on that comment by v.e.
oh right, sorry Retro, lol.

I'm just frustrated over that tired old line trotted out each time an atrocity happens.

Ship 'em all 'home' I say!
I'm wondering whether there is any significance in the fact that this attack took place on the Promenade des Anglais.
I'm afraid that this is 'the new normal'. Every public event is a target and will continue to be a target unless radical action is taken.

However - what should that action be?

Let's assume the attack is a radicalised Muslim (obv), and is a French citizen...France might take the extreme measure of deporting all French Algerians back to Algeria.

But can this be done?

Could Algeria be forced to accept the move?

Or on a broader scale, could the West cut off all links with Muslim countries? Close off contact economically, as well as physically? This would include trade, as well as all military support for conflict regions.

Something must be done...but what? What would actually work, to increase our security, and end these brutal inhuman evil attacks...but what?
// If they're "known", ship the *** to a country they profess to love before they can commit something like this.//

because the police 'knowing' someone or something is not like it is for the rest of us - I was 'known' to the police as a landlord of two drug dealers. Nothing to do with me - they didnt pay their rent ! which was the only reason I could get them out. this last bit of course was NOT 'known' to the police. [ being known to the police is not grounds for eviction - actually being convicted of sex offences isnt either unless it is in the contract]

the other thing is this bit about 'the law'
knowing something ( see above) is nothing like proving something in court
// I'm afraid that this is 'the new normal'. Every public event is a target and will continue to be a target unless radical action is taken. //

no the new normal is calls to
ship out anyone with a brown skin and funny accent
whether or not there are grounds to do so or that it is just that you are 'off' brown skinned people this week
// The driver had ID papers .According to these he is alleged to be a French Tunisian.//

blimey a legal statement for a change - as rare as snow iin summer
it means they couldnt deport him
( or the only country they could deport him to would be France )
Many 100,000s of citizens are joint French/Algerian nationality you can't just deport all the 'Algerians' from France. Then there are many more French with Algerian ancestors and family and Algerians with French relatives.
no one is suggesting you deport all those people Eddie. My suggestion is that they deport all those "known" and by known im assuming it means "strongly suspected of terrorist links".

And yes, I'm aware of the massive flaw in my statement of ship shipping them to where exactly? I'm just knee jerk reacting in anger as i do when the phrase "we'll learn from these mistakes" each time is used too.
He was known to the police as he had a criminal record.
There must be hundreds if not thousands in a similar position.
I'd suggest that 'radical action' is precisely what is NOT needed.
Boring old police and intelligence work is what you need. To stop, or minimise the risk, of 'radical action' of which I think there is already too much
Has there been any official confirmation as to who is responsible for this atrocity ?

The West could do as you suggest but it is Russia who supplies the Kalashnikovs and other hardware. They are always waiting in the background to exploit some warring country for their own interests.

A French /Tunisian if his ID card is his.
No responsibility claimed by any terrorist faction/group if that is what you meant.
Until the west acknowledges the reality that is Islam and ceases to consider this appalling ideology to be ‘just another religion’ innocents will continue to be slaughtered. Islam is not ‘just another religion’. Islam means ‘submission’ and it’s that philosophy that controls the lives of its adherents absolutely. Islam does not embrace patriotism to any nation, but commands unconditional obedience to the tenets of its literature. Islam is one. It is a ‘brotherhood’. Islam’s enemy is anyone who doesn’t adhere rigidly to its code – and that code dictates that unless the enemy submits wholly to Islam, he must be killed. We must stop the influx of thousands of unknown Muslims into the west right now, the burka should be banned, Islamic schools and Sharia courts outlawed, and terror suspects already here should be locked up for life with no privileges, no ‘human rights’, no copies of the Koran, no Halal food, and no prison Imams to minister to their religious foibles. Until we stop pussyfooting around Islam and treating it with the ‘respect’ the liberally minded demand, it will continue to terrorise the world and the world will never defeat it. As unsavoury as it might be we have to acknowledge one simple fact - Islam is at war with the west.

Naomi sits back and waits for the expected howls of protest.
No howl of protest from me!
