So - only comments from serving or former serving service personnel carry weight?

Becoming a trait here.

RIP to the soldier and sympathies to their family.
Talbot, I don't know how the courses are set out but I am sure there will no easy times
That is running away from the question not answering it.
Sounds like Knowledge by Association Danny
I made a few friends among them Balders.I always used to marvel at the things they had to do in the heat of Malta.Especially just before they were due to go on an operation

I prefer not to give my opinion on something I have no knowledge of, unlike some on this thread.

Sure you did Danny, I was referring to Talbot and his associates
Sorry Balders I misunderstood your post.I have now said all I am going to say on the subject ,except that, the members of 42 Commando who did not return from and operation must be turning in their graves.
His associates?

Associates that fought in the Falklands and marched round Northern Ireland during the troubles ... why are you so dismissive of your former colleagues?

I have a picture of my father leading a patrol of Royal Marines (45 Commando). They were heading up the Troodos. They started in searing heat but were dressed and kitted out for the snow and near zero temperatures at the top of the mountains. It was a full days patrol with the water they carried.

Dismissive of you Talbot, never of Former RM's.

Not allowed, talbot - you haven't earned your stripes ...

Have you an answer for my earlier Q @ 11:29?
There's not much chat on AARSE, apart from saying there is no point speculating at this stage.

Seems sound advice to me.
And (personally) I think just entitling a thread "Another One" is incredibly rude and unfeeling, when the person who has died is someone's son/brotherhusband/father - not just "Another One"

I note you missed the '?' from the title SD which does change the meaning somewhat, but I guess you knew that?

Always best to take in the considerations of experts, much more reliable than keyboard wizards.
Oh AOG, it's much more than taking into consideration - believe me.

Out of respect I shall now remove myself from this thread.
