Article 50 Not Meant For Use.
This should tell us just how devious these EUSSR lizards were, and indeed still are.
//A former Italian premier has claimed that Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, which, if triggered, would initiate Britain’s exit from the EU, was designed not for actual employment but as a deterrent - and he should know, he wrote the thing.//

For heaven’s sake! It’s quite true. If we want to leave tomorrow we can. There’s nothing to stop us and no “negotiati ons” are necessary. We won’t do that because it would be foolish to undo fifty years of integration overnight and a measured approach is necessary and desirable. But the idea that the EU can or will impose conditions upon us is...

long series of cases to say that you look at the wording to see what a bit of the law means
only recently ( pepper and brown I think ) where it was allowed to look behind at debates to see what an obscure section meant.
but Art 50 .... isnt obscure.
think of a man with toothache who dawdles outside a dentists surgery
he knows what the cures is ( pair of pliers whilst the dentist holds your head in a sidelock ) but may still delay knocking on the door.....

I had read that it was never meant to be triggered some time back. This article is the first I've read that it was meant to be a deterrent. Clearly a poor one if it was.
Taking the article at face value, the guy seems to have a screw loose. Clearly the exit will happen, clearly any penalising during negotiations on trade/relationship afterwards will be a lose/lose situation, clearly it is not easy to drag negotiations out for long since we can just reach the end of our tether and go. The article seems to suggest he's so desperate to control that other nations that he just doesn't care what problems the EU causes it's members.

Disbarring the departing country from the negotiating table is a logical choice to prevent "dummy" departures, as a negotiation tactic.
UK already has a raft of special concessions and they're not about to let other member countries do the same (we only could because of our clout) because reams of 'special rules' for this country and that country turn the whole thing into an incomprehensible flamingo-up.

not surprising, why would any ever want to leave the fluffy bunny EU?
Usual BS from Eddie, I see, they will not "Impose" anything we will be out, end of, your beloved EU dictators will not have any control over us, that's the whole idea.
Nothing to discuss in my opinion, stop the DD, shut the borders, end of.

//actually alot of us wont ( me e.g. )
whereas a lof of people who WILL have to live with the ourcome were not allowed a vote on their future....//
Oh dear the world is sooo unfair pp. They make me invest in wind power and other pie in the sky technology, medical research, space travel, etc etc that I have no use for. Disgraceful to make plans for the future, and make people who have no use for it pay for it.
