Otherwise there will be deep, deep trouble over the collapse of democracy as we know it in this country. Heseltine has already said (I heard him on R4) that the decision is not the people's, but the domain of MPs. The interviewer was somewhat taken aback and said that the people didn't seem to think that.

Indeed, jno, technically correct. I don't, somehow, think that will wash with people who think their MP was elected to represent their views. At the moment we seem to have an unrepresentative parliament. Most Labour MPs are against the leader that lots of people voted for and most Tory MPs were anti-Brexit. A strange and dangerous situation. Historical precedents are not encouraging if this continues.
Very seriously, if Article 50 is not triggered before the next election I do predict huge trouble, even bloodshed, and the collapse of the current system which has served us well so far. Who knows where it may go? I don't.
