A suitable party leader or not? If the DM dug deep enough I'm sure they could find skeletons in most politicians.

// the Panama papers show that in 2005 Dr Forrest had a company set up in the British Virgin Islands. //

The hypocrisy of the serial tax avoiding Viscount Rothermere owned newspaper is breathtaking.
I am not sure if the next Leader of UKIP matters at all agchristie.

Its a broken, redundant Party, with nowhere left to go anymore.

They could elect Christopher Biggins and it would matter less !
// "For a man whose newspapers love Britain so much, the 4th Viscount Rothermere is remarkably enamoured of the world’s tax havens as shelters for his enormous riches.

Since 1995, three years before the Hon Jonathan Harmsworth (as he then was) inherited the Daily Mail & General Trust plc empire from his father, the 3rd Viscount, the group has been controlled through a company, Rothermere Continuation Ltd, registered in Bermuda but run from Jersey. //
I am not a particular follower of UKIP but surely the way the major parties are always sniping at each other it is a breath of fresh air to have a flourishing independent party to give them something to think about.
Mikey,
If you think Brexit will cure our immigration problems, then you are mistaken. UKIP will have plenty to complain about and very many of the public with similar views on immigration, will support them.
When brexit fails to cure all the county's evils the Conservatives will get the flack and UKIP can gain from that.
Ron....UKIP used to have 2 MPs and now has 1 MP .......I am not quite sure how this constitutes a "flourishing Party" ?
Mikey,
UKIP lost 1 seat at the General Election. Labour lost 26.

Gromit > If you think Brexit will cure our immigration problems, then you are mistaken. UKIP will have plenty to complain about and very many of the public with similar views on immigration, will support them.

With the Labour Party very weak at this moment and in a state of flux, our political system needs strong opposition.Ukip certainly have a role to play in this regard.
Gromit....not where I have ever said that Brexit will "cure our immigration problems"....in fact, I am 100% certain that I never have done.

I am in favour of controlled immigration and I also voted to stay in the EU.

Also I am not sure what this UKIP support has achieved so far ?

They lost the last General Election in a spectacular fashion, after promising, for many years, to "change the face of British politics"
Gromit....UKIP lost 50% of its pre-Election MP's !

Last time I looked, Labour still had 232 MPs.

agchristie ....In the face of what is looking to be the most reactionary Tory Government, since the last time we had a woman PM, Britain does indeed need a strong opposition. But Her Majesties Most Loyal Opposition isn't UKIP and never will be.

1 MP doesn't an opposition make.

Mikey > They could elect Christopher Biggins and it would matter less!

So If it is Diane James, she could get away with offensive remarks relating to Nazis and concentration camps?? Seriously?
Mikey,
It was the threat of UKIP taking Tory votes which prompted Cameron to give us a referendum that delivered Brexit. That is a massive change to this country, and that was UKIPs doing.

Agchristie,
// With the Labour Party very weak at this moment and in a state of flux //

Since Corbyn was elected, Labour have won every by-election, the London Mayor contest. Labours problems are internal and self inflicted and will be sorted, one way or another, in a few weeks.

// our political system needs strong opposition.Ukip certainly have a role to play in this regard. //

Er, with 1 MP. I don't think so.

Gromit,you said this -

It was the threat of UKIP taking Tory votes which prompted Cameron to give us a referendum that delivered Brexit.

Not a bad outcome with er,just 1 MP.

You don't have to be in power to turn the screw...
mikey4444

If you have nothing to fear from UKIP, why are you always going on about them?

The sooner that UKIP gets back on their feet the better for the ordinary man and woman in the UK, or at least those that still hold Britain close to their hearts.
Agchristie,

That doesn't really prove the brilliance of Farage, it proves David Cameron was a terrible leader.
Question Author
AOG - do you think James is the one for doing precisely that?
Question Author
Gromit > it proves David Cameron was a terrible leader.

So,where does that leave Corbyn on that basis?
If we had had a proportional representation system of voting UKIP would have been a force to be reckoned with in the Commons with 83 seats.

I saw her on a BBC By Election special a couple of years ago and was very impressed with her. It was a revelation to see someone sensible being the UKIP spokesperson.
