I heard another spokesman from the BMA being interviewed on radio 4 this morning and once again there were no straight answers given. I have tried to follow the debate closely over the last year or so but can not get to the bottom of exactly what the issue is. The doctors seem to speak in riddles- it's not about the money/the money isn't good enough, we already do 7 day working/we don't want this contract enforced on us, etc
A few comments which I consider to be relevant:
NHS is state controlled and financed institution where you and me finance the scheme and the Unions control the benefits of their members.
The doctors do better under a Labour Government and hence make their moves in that environment ( Labour will give into them)
If you want to "upset the applecart" for Political reasons...make your move in a Tory administration.
Look carefully at the media coverage...the vat majority of "troublemakers" are women doctors. Too many women are being trained and are not "good value " to the NHS."
The Government and the BMA ( dr's union) have an agreement on the table..........but the members do not accept this.
Bottom line......this is all about more money for the Dr's and patients will suffer.
The NHS is here to stay, by public demand.........so nothing will change.

Bazille by 2017 there will be more female Drs in the Uk than male Drs.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?.....I think it will cause a problem to the NHS.
For many reasons, better A-level results than boys, impressive at interviews, mature earlier 60% of students entering medical school were female.
Under the age of 35....60% are women and 40% men..........so what?
Most women have babies, work part time, go into GP and retire early. As a result of this 2 women doctors have to be trained to do the work of one male doctor and as it costs about £500,000 to train a doctor.........then....are we getting good value.?
Women Drs in the hospitals "tend to avoid the front line specialities"
There are other factors Bazille but I will leave you with those thoughts for now.

oh step forward FF - so you would like a contract enforced on you?
I wonder what good it would do you
or whether it will do much more good to your employer
( you know extra work for nothing no breaks crap pensions etc except of course for them...)
the junior doctors dont want to work week ends with no one around
and no labs or X ray open in short - hospitals were and are open for emergencies anyway
and if anyone says emergency treatment is no different to routine treatment the answer is " yes ! yes ! they are !"
and I dont blame them
3T and the usual suspects will say well the junior doctors could resign and do something else...
and you know what ? someone said 55% of year twos had declined to do year three ( one more year of year 2 and they all said no thanks) and are now doing something else ( from Aug 1st 2016 )
O the person who said that was... one Jeremy Hunt MP in parliament

Folk doing the only thing they can to stick up for themselves are dismissed as playing politics; and belittled by suggesting that they are spitting the dummy out, simply because they will not roll over and accept that which is being imposed ?
Worth recalling that in a dispute there are two sides that fail to agree and thus cause, and are responsible for, whatever results.
