Sports Direct Acts On Pay After Critical Warehouse Report

http://news.sky.com/story/sports-direct-acts-on-pay-after-critical-warehouse-report-10566898

It looks like the zero hours nonsense is now at an end, at Sports Direct at least, and not before time. But would this Mea Culpa have happened without the intervention of he Commons Select Committee ?

Good news. I'm sure many of the staff currently on zero hours contracts will welcome the guaranteed minimum number of hours. But it's good that they a re also allowing staff to remain on zero hours contracts if they want- as someone who chooses to be on such a contract I can see why some (e.g.students ) like the flexibility
They have a shop in Blackburn Mikey, when you enter the shop you would swear blind you were going into bombed site, tee stuff all over the place.

FF....the choice is important. Before these promised new improvements, Mr Ashley was clearly using these bad practises to make huge sums of money.

But contrast and compare two different cases, that have appeared before the Commons Select Committees.....Sport Direct and BHS.

To give Ashley all the credit going, he has acted on all of the issues that he was criticised about, albeit with a fair amount of poking in the back by shareholders.

But in the case of BHS, we have yet to see any movement in the plight of the pensioners in the company, despite Green saying that he would act.

TWR....I agree ...going into any of the shops is like wandering through an ancient Middle East bazaar !
Does this mean that you will hence forth return to Spots Direct(deliberate) to buy your cross trainers and lycra sports gear mikey? (^_*)
A billionaire who had to go through the ignominy of a Select Committee and Newcastle United relegated from the Premiership.

Things can only get better on and off the pitch...surely?

Togo....if were to wear lycra, I would look like some kind of overstuffed sausage....not an edifying sight !

I was reading Bill Bryson last night, and we appear to agree on one point. We are approx the same age and we no longer have the need or the inclination to buy much in the way of new clothes any longer. I intend to wear out all my current clothing, finishing the day before my demise !
Mikey,LOL

You will end up looking like a growbag!

Lol mikey, :)) reminds me of the late great Les Dawson........ who once said that his mother in law had a figure that looked like she was modelling scatter cushions.

lol Togo !

I really miss Les. One of his favourite jokes was ::

"There was a knock on the door and I knew it was the mother-in-law without looking, as the mice were throwing themselves on the traps " !
