I have been to Southall many times, I like it and never felt unsafe but it is very 'Indian' .
The shops accept Rupees !
Southall is; but Ealing is less Indian.
So the general area must be multicultural by definition.
Not to go out alone at night ?

What complete tosh, and racist tosh at that.

The MP has invited representatives from the airline to visit Ealing. Now I have friends in the area, and its an extremely vibrant part of London. But I can't imagine many tourists wanting to include it on a list of must-do's, when on holiday in London.

The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and and the West End is where you find tourists surely ?

Has it taken three and a half years for that video to reach them?

DB...if these tourists are being told not to go out alone after dark, in the West End, then they are being told a lot of tosh.

London tonight is full of people coming and going from eating at restaurants and going to the theatre. I only wish I was there, perhaps walking along the South Bank, or maybe on my way to a really good restaurant in Chinatown.
it depends what you are used to

2000 i was in Hong Kong and after cocktails ( hur hur hur ) I said " I will take you to the bus or tram stop "
and She said: you dont understand - chinese men dont mug girls
and I said I sure dont - I live in Manchester ....

and as a colleague said to me
in Delhi - no one goes out without a servant in tow
yes yes I know Delhi so far is not part of the united kingdom
Why is in order for our travel agencies to give out safety information for British travellers travelling to foreign climes, but not for other countries to issue out similar safety information to their people travelling abroad?
AOG....because the advice doled out by the Chinese airline is crap, and racist crap at that.

To suggest that Chinese people shouldn't go out alone after dark is ludicrous.
Would there been this type of outrage if in the past foreign tourist were warned not to venture into London's East End, where certain white gangs were on the streets?

In your opinion!!!! living as you do in leafy Wales and sometimes Cornwall.

/// To suggest that Chinese people shouldn't go out alone after dark is ludicrous. ///

It doesn't say that, but what it does say is for them to take certain precautions (going out alone at night amongst is just one of them) when visiting certain areas in London.

Sound advice I would say.
A area dominated by one culture, what ever that culture may be, is not "mulit-cultural". Is it??

Now I am not saying that Chinese tourists wouldn't be safe in certain parts of London based on the origin of the majority population and I am not condoning the article BUT there are certain areas at night that I would avoid as a white british male based on crime statistics.
divebuddy - the chinese ( han) have muslims ( uighurs )
and they ( both ) also have terrorism there

and yes they put them in concentration camps ( terrible places - )

so I dont suppose they are talking about that
Peter Pedant

/// and yes they put them in concentration camps ( terrible places - ) ///

Better for their citizens I would suggest.

At least they are not roaming the streets.
// Better for their citizens I would suggest. //
bit of a possy mark in my opinion

my father was threatened with a concentration camp ( one of his German guards in 1942 said to him - "be careful Dr P we can send you to far more unpleasant places"
and my father said " and the same man can send you to the Russian Front " )

and German concentration camps like Gulags werent very good for the people sent to them.

actually the British said they would shoot anyone sending a POW to a concentration camp - however a few ended up in Sachsenhausen ( stalag III survivors ) and Mauthausen - and I think a few people got shot as a result )

( sorry a bit of a long post on how unpleasant concentration camps always have been and how innocents always seem to end up in them )
