/// While they waited to move into their current home, Luton Borough Council housed the family in a hotel for almost four months at the town’s £160-per-night Hampton by Hilton hotel, costing £38,400. ///
/// During their stay at the hotel, the family ran up £21,000 in room service which they refused to pay, leaving the council to foot the bill. ///
/// The family have received annual hand-outs worth £44,000 since they arrived in the UK - made up of housing and child benefits, as well as child tax credits and NHS course payments. ///
/// Their hotel stay has pushed that total to more than £103,000 in the last 12 months. ///
Do all those on Luton Borough Council's housing list get to stay in hotels until a property becomes available for them?
If not why not?
It looks like Mr Sube is over here studying the mental health of the British, it would seem by this case we must all be crackers.

Fiction, did you know that the N.H.S sponsors university courses to the tune of £9,000 a year? What are the criteria, what previous educational standards are required, does someone have to pledge or sign that they will work within the NHS after graduation? How many of these courses are being paid for by the NHS, and again who are the people who are benefiting from them, where are they all from?
No idea Togo. Maybe the NHS should be asked. I assume that as there seems to be a shortage of medical staff they think it seems a good idea to offer places and I assume the number of places is limited so this chap must have been worthy of his place. He'll be kicked off the course if he isn't up to it I assume. The problem is that the course places are offered without reference to potential housing benefit and other costs for the family as that's not teh concern of the university/NHS
Does this not work the other way round too? I have heard of students from UK taking up places at nil/lower fees elsewhere in Europe and maybe there are British families claiming benefits in France, Germany etc. Maybe it all cancels out- does anyone have the statistics?
By 2021 we may be close to being outside the EU and may have slightly ore control of the benefits availalble to migrants
