^ Except that it is a Eurovision Song Contest with the likes of Israel and Australia competing!!
I love the Last Night of the Proms, am patriotic - I cry whenever the National anthem is played at a sporting event - and am a Remaniac.

I was wondering what flag would our golfers play under in the Ryder Cup when we leave the EU. Not that the EU flag ever meant anything to anyone British.
^^or anyone European.
The Eurovision song contest is if course nothing to do with the EU
I'm campaigning hard for a forcible Ozexit from that :-)

1-18?

:)
I bet no one will be calling for a Brexit from the Ryder Cup
I wouldn't wish to draw comparisons between the performance of our US opponents in the days before European unity because, of course, the Ryder cup also has nothing to do with the EU :-)

"Yes strange that, we see very few of our ethnic groups in attendance, waving the Union flag."

Can you guess why?

Do you think it may be because the Proms is all about classical music, which isn't popular in many ethnic communities?

Perhaps that's the reason?

Yes?

Likewise, you will find few (if any) black or Asian people at thrash metal concerts.

Hope this clears that up for you.

Yes it is unfortunate that they are not prepared to embrace the culture of the country that they have chosen to settle in.

While at the same time expecting us to embrace their cultures, which we are seen to do so on many occasions.

Hope that clears this up for you.

That is an idiotic thing to write.

Classical music is of little interest to millions of native Brits.

Pop music is the music that defines a cultural identity to more people than classical.

Your assertion that non-whites do not embrace British culture is way off the mark.

I know that you're the only person 'brave enough to raise these matters', but in this, you're making yourself look quite stupid.
Sp > Classical music is of little interest to millions of native Brits.

I once walked into a music store and enquired about a piece of work by a composer. The answer I got from the young lad was:-

'Wagner? The guy with the long hair on X factor you mean?'

Wagner - isn't he an escapologist , appearing at Southend Pier ?
Isn't Bakeoven on that daft cooking programme with Mary Berry?

I might as well have played Haydn seek in that store the use he was!

I'd like to get an handel on this thread

Exactly.

Like opera, appreciation of classical music is relatively niche. To say that few attendees at the Proms is evidence that people from ethnic minorities are not prepared to embrace British culture is pure nonsense.
