Yes, we should have a revised refugee system, one that will allow us to remove people from the country without interference from the ECHR under the guise of the HRA.

If we spent less time dealing with the HRA then there would be more time for genuine cases.

We could also do more by refusing to pay any benefits to anyone coming to this country. That would put more people off even trying and again the genuine cases can be then helped.

Classic Guardian, the nasty wasty British government makes it difficult, boo *** hoo. The one question they do not ever seem to want to ask or answer is this: Why do they not apply in France? better still why don't they apply in the first safe country?

How long will these faiths and charities look after these refugees before they are passed on to the governments to continue the "good work"? Another idea from the churches that is fine in theory but totally impractical.

No more room for them in our NHS.

No more room for them in our housing stock.

No more room for them in our schools.

No more room for them in out benefit system.

In fact how many more times do we have to say this:

NO MORE ROOM, FULL STOP.

The article writer seems to have based the article on a misunderstanding. The claim is that
we drive asylum seekers into the hands of people traffickers. This is clear nonsense. They will have already fled the country that they have issues with before they voluntarily find and pay for the services of any trafficer. Thus the article is pointless.

No one suggests we have no responsibility to help fund the camps near the border where they find safety until able to return. What is said is that refugees who wish to chance their hand at becoming economic migrants can no longer be reasonably accommodated. We should ensure the camps are providing humane basic living conditions but that is the limit of our moral duty. We help but are not used.
