Allardyce - Entrapment?

As the shock waves settle on Mr Allardyce's activities, and the results, he, and several other media and football figures are talking about 'entrapment' by The Telegraph - as though he is somehow an innocent victim of skulduggery.

My view is that he would not have been 'caught' if he was behaving properly, and the public interest justifies the methods used - and he would save some dignity if he kept quiet and let everything take its course.

What do you think?

I have no sympathy whatsoever for Mr Allardyce. Perhaps his Houdini act saving Sunderland from relegation has gone to his big head (a club that was reeling from the Johnson affair). He states that it was his 'dream job'. Entrapment or not, a person in his privileged position has to be whiter than white and lead by example in ethics, discipline, motivation and...

"....what do footballers actually have to descend to before they are universally criticised?"

I think caught and photographed hanging out of a goat would do it for most, Mushroom.

You should be sainted, andy.
"Take your pick - there are numerous documented cases of football managers taking money for illegal purposes."

Right, which one of them are we talking about?

I thought we were talking about Sam Allardyce?

That goat consented.
Randy....I am still unsure why you are seeking to defend this greedy twit ?

You seem utterly determined to find an instance where I have stated that I believe that Sam Allardyce is corrupt, even to the point of using the 'So' method - starting a post with 'So' which means you are going to say something I haven't said, and then respond as though I have said it.

Why don't you give it up, you are micro analysing something that is not there, and it's getting tedious.
There's defending and trying for a bit of balance, mikey.

Poor journalism or not, he knew what he was doing and was in control of his own mouth. Nobody had his arm twisted around his back.

A man of his vast experience should have known better.

Talbot....he was caught red-handed, and that is why he has beggered off abroad !
Agchristie....your reply deserves BA, in my humble opinion !
ok.

Do you think he should say nothing at all?, not give his side of the story at all?

( I have removed so)
Do you want a bit of useless information?

My granddad was a labourer on the railways (LNER as it was then) and every day my grandma would make his lunch pack of a large slice of bread and a chunk of cheese bought at the Co-Op from a massive cheese cut with a wire.
With his pocketknife he would cut a piece of his cheese and put it on a bit of bread before eating it.

Wait for it.........all the labourers referred to the cheese as.......BUNG.
Randy....if he had any "side" of a story to tell, he wouldn't have beggered off abroad................face up to it....he acted, at the very least, very foolishly, and good riddance to him.
is he available for comment pls squiddly!
Sqad....very interesting... Thanks for sharing that with us !
Randy...LOL.....he died when i was 16 years old....the rudest man i have ever met.

Mikey....have you ever suggested or given a BA to someone who disagreed with you?
Thanks Mikey :)

Seriously, I can't believe a newly appointed manager of his country would allow himself to be so exposed.

Sir Alf could be a surly, difficult man but he had morals and it was under his qualities that we last won the World Cup.

Sam has blown it big time..

I refer you to my post of 10:55 - where I was also not calling Mr Allardyce corrupt!!
// Exactly.....do not give any reason whatsoever to entrap. Simple. // umm

looks to me from the viddie that there was quite a lot of consent to being entrapped. 35000 of them.
Sqad.....not sure on that one, but why would I give a BA to someone who said the opposite of what I believed ?

Incidentally, what is the origin on Bung, when applied to a hunk of cheese .....have you any idea ?
