Ar but TTT the power hungry will take every opportunity to snag a bit more power for themselves. It makes them feel better about their fight if they are 'in the know'.

Although perhaps it is the only way to actually make these idiots realise what running the country and keeping it safe from aggression actually takes.

The full title of the Privy Council is "Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council" and - if you read the last two lines of your own link-material, TTT, you'll note that they read:
"The Queen has been pleased to approve that John McDonnell MP be sworn (in as a member) of Her Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council."
I suspect the words I have inserted in brackets have been inadvertently omitted.
Given that HRH has shown herself to be satisfied with his membership, TTT, I think it ill behoves you to disapprove...and as for calling her 'stupid', JJ, ...well!

The Privy Council is a formal body of advisers to the Sovereign of the United Kingdom, so they must have advised the Queen to accept JMcD into their ranks.

The sovereign is Head is State for all UK citizens, both those who like him or her to be so, and those who do not. It does not pay to be advised by one's approvers only since that can only really represent a portion of the total population, and may well have blind spots leading them to not consider some things that would constitute good advice.

I would not describe a Republican as an enemy, but think the phrase, "keep your friends close and your enemies closer", is not too inappropriate for a wise Head of State. For friends substitute sycophants, and for enemies substitute critics ?

I notice, however, that Jonathan Aitken ( him of the trust shield or truth ) was but resigned in 1997.
