Maybe there aren't enough indigenous people willing to pick them. I wonder if it says on the packet where they are produced.
No, it doesn't, f-f
Their factories are in the U.K. Maybe they are frozen on the continent where it's colder.
I should think the likelihood of a refugee popping out of your roastie is small.

Are frozen roast potatoes any good?
They sound disgusting. Chips and fries maybe ...

I thought by law they had too.

I suppose the whole truck load will have to be destroyed, with Elf & Safety & all that?
Why aren't they grown & frozen in the UK?

Is that seriously the Q you are asking?
I know meat, poultry and fish has to declare the country of origin. Don't know about frozen spuds
Yes, just noticed my Aunt Bessie chips don't say. I doubt the migrants would contaminate them at this temp

What, colder on the Continent?
Indigenous people are willing to pick them if the pay & conditions are right. It's only when one wishes to underpay to keep costs down and make out you have a viable commercial proposition that the issue arises.

Maybe cheap imports of roast spuds mean that folk are unwilling to pay a fair price for them here.

But that said, I suspect there are plenty of spuds grown in the UK.
I tried this product once and didn't like the coating so wouldn't buy them anyway. If the potatoes are grown in the UK they could easily be frozen here too. I'll stick to homemade I think.
It's a good question, talbot. We grow potatoes very successfully in the UK.
What is reason why you won't be buying Aunt Bessie's spuds again, trt?

I've had a quick rootle through my freezers - Morrison's sliced peppers, produce of Spain; Tesco's Finest roast parsnips, UK.

I have Aunt Bessie's frozen chips and roast parsnips, neither give the country of origin
I went spud-bashing on a local farm when I was 14, it was slave labour!
Farmers have to pay the minimum wage at least whoever is pulling up the veg
They are too nice for me to not buy them. I'd challenge anyone to make a better homemade roastie without spending ages faffing about doing it.
I don't see the issue either - have we got lots of unemployed potato pickers?
They are not as nice as my roast potatoes so I don't buy them.

Talbot.......

Because I thought my Auntie was English, but now I find out she's a Foreigner, and probably on that lorry!!
They are not a patch on mine, Prudie.

It does seem crazy the haul tatties from abroad to make frozen spuds when we could easily do it ourselves ... think of the planet people, think of the planet. (there's some lazy ABers so there is)
Prudie we have lots of unemployed but they are not willing to pick fruits or veg for the national minimum wage, but immigrants are so why shouldn't they have the jobs?

Oh and I realise you were not criticising apologise if my answer is a bit terse.
