Well at least not in any public places indoor or outdoor in the Philippines.

Is it one step too far or should the West follow suit?

Anything that curtails this disgusting habit gets my vote. I note he has also "Slaughtered thousands of drug dealers" - what's not to like?

Yep, he seems to be cleaning up the place.

Bet there has been some Muselli up the walls of late though
well there'll definitely be some peace porridge up the walls in gromits Tibetan tea shop.
Perhaps they should be looking into the more greater pollution killer, the diesel engine?
TTT - //Anything that curtails this disgusting habit gets my vote. //

I also loathe smoking, but I think that has to balanced against the freedoms of a free society like ours.

I would like smoking to be eradicated by education and social isolation, rather than draconian government action.

The absence of due process? Just because someone is identified as a 'drug dealer' is not to my mind sufficient proof to sanction summary execution.

The worry is, in a system where slaughtering criminals becomes the norm, it's a genie out of the bottle. How long before people who are not signalling on roundabouts get slaughtered?
How long before people who are not signalling on roundabouts get slaughtered? tomorrow I hope
Some gruesome images in that report, glad I'm not planning a trip there - or ever likely to.
I used to smoke, but don't now. It's nice to be able to go out for an evening and not come back with hair and clothes reeking of fags. But banning it everywhere except people's own homes is a bit far.
I've been to the Philippines 3 times, and there's no need to smoke, as the fumes from the motor bikes & Jeepneys for 8 hours, must be the equivalent of a 100 fags.
Our local hospitals already ban smoking on any part of the hospital including the grounds.I think that eventually there will be blanket ban on smoking in any public place. If that happens I can see a proliferation of private Smoking Parlours springing up.
My local hospital has also banned it. No one pays heed though!
My local hospital has banned it, too, but you often see heavily pregnant women and people on drips puffing away outside.
//Now Philippines president Rodrigo 'The Punisher' Duterte bans SMOKING after having thousands of drug dealers slaughtered//

I suppose smokers may consider themselves fortunate in a way. At least the potty president is only banning their habit - he's not killing them for it!

//How long before people who are not signalling on roundabouts get slaughtered? //

gets my vote :-)
suspected smokers may think themselves lucky for the same reason, naomi.
AOG something has already been done about the diesel engine!
The latest version of diesels are' Euro 7 ' compliant , the emissions are so low the the exhaust gas is cleaner than the air that went into the engine.
Of course the old diesels will still be on the road for a few years yet but as they are scrapped they will be replaced by 'clean; diesels.
aog, they're talking about adding an extra £10 onto the congestion charge for older cars, because of the pollution. But really, it'd be cheaper just to shoot anyone driving them.
I think the same ban should be introduced into the UK .

What has diesel cars got to do with this thread - I am genuinely puzzled?
