It's a little tricky to 'put the morals of the guy to one side' - since it is those morals, or rather total absence of them, that have landed him in court in the first place.

How can it be '...immoral maybe ... ' when we are 'putting the morals of the guy to one side'.
You need to work out what you want to say, and then say it - that will avoid you contradicting yourself part way through.
