These are children who do not have relatives in the UK but are classed as 'especially vulnerable' they are mainly girls under 13. So the screens are to stop photos of young vulnerable girls being taken , the reason for this should be obvious even to you!

that information is not available in the media Eddie; the only comment in any of the media - the BBC for example - referring to the number 13 is a reference to groups accommodated by the Dubs Amendment, ie //which allow particularly vulnerable children - such as girls and those under 13 - refuge in the UK.//

They won't stop them crossing the Channel?

So essentially, a Calais refugee camp will be set up somewhere in Kent. But it will have to be highly secure because everyone in it will be trying to get past the fence.

Still, I suppose Kent voted to leave, so I guess they will be happy to take the responsibility away from France.

a number of French politicians have engaged in macho posturing to that effect. but the Le Touquet accord, that set the borders of France and the UK on each other's territory, is nothing to do with the EU, but a bilateral agreement solely between the UK and France.

The latest child migrant arrivals are the first to be allowed in under the 'Dubbs Ammendment' Quote here from the BBC

These are the ones who were 'hidden' behind the screens so as to avoid photographers. There were 14 of them in this first batch ( that is also from the BBC web site) More are due in the next few days,

Why are the latest arrivals hidden by screens? if they are, as suggested, young girls under thirteen, surely letting the press see they are exactly that, would help to dispel the suspicions that the arrivals are in fact young men and not children.

Far from my 'making it up' I think many on here simply glance at the headlines rather than reading the entire stories as I do.
For example , that last quote from The Daily Mail was near the bottom of a long artical that was basically a typical 'Anti Immigrant Rant'.

Vulcan. Images of children are discouraged because, rightly or wrongly (wrongly in my opinion !) they are alleged to be of interest to paedophiles and those with an unhealthy intrest in under age children.
It is the same argument that has been used to ban photos of school sports days ,concerts and plays.
