evidently if you don't go to your doctor's for a long time, new government rules will see you struck off, in case you're a "ghost"; this family only found out when they needed help on holiday:-

Its not in a surgery’s interests to remove healthy people from their list without checking as that is where the steady money is. Gp surgeries receive their share of the Global Sum partly based on the number of people on their list weighted by age and sex. People like me who rarely see their GP are pretty much pure profit. I really hope I stay as pure profit for many more years!
