"According to his statement, the 11-year-old girl managed to get away from the boys and found a life guard. The lifeguard immediately alerted the police."
Why on earth does one need to go looking for a lifeguard ? Are they not permanently at the pool looking out for problems ? Or is harassment and sexual assault out of the water someone else's problem ?
Some folk being surrounded and harassed and one didn't interpret the situation properly ? If true it sounds like someone needs some urgent training in basic youth care and in reading situations. It's how bullies get away with stuff otherwise.
Naomi, I just wanted an explanation of why the OP clearly questioned the use of the word children, when they clearly were (according to the article) just that. I found the use of them distracting for, as you say, a serious issue. I think AOG is using the refugee story from a few days ago as a link to this, quite separate story and I found that quite ridiculous. Along with his choice to believe certain aspects of the story and not others. Bizarre.
You're all probably right. From experience from school many years ago it tended to be you could not rely on teachers not assuming 'messing about' as some poor kid got hassled; often on a regular basis. That said it rarely got done right in front of a teacher guarding the pupils.
