Good.
Its a good from me as well.

This loathsome creature took Private Eye to Court, over what turned out now, to be 100% correct allegations, and won £375,000 in damages.

The whole affair at Bryn Estyn stinks. This man had his back covered by the Police force of which he was a member. The sexual abuse at Bryn Estyn started in 1974, and maybe earlier, and Inquiry after Inquiry was ordered, by successive Governments.

The following link tells the complete long, sorry story. In the early days, Alison Taylor, a residential care worker, reported her concerns to the local Police, and was sacked for her troubles.

Everybody associated with this affair, including those that allowed it to happen, those that participated in the cover-up, and those that did the abusing themselves should be named and shamed, and, hopefully prosecuted.

Quite often on AB, the view is expressed, that

"its all a very long time ago, and we can't be sure these things really did happen, and we can't do anything anyway 'coz all the people are dead now"

What a load of tosh, as this case now shows.

Die in jail Anglesea.
by an amazing co-incidence, here's a very similar case reported today in Birmingham:-

Right where they belong - good.
Yet again another individual using his power and status to abuse the less fortunate, at least he has lived long enough to be found guilty.
Thanks Mush....its happening all over the country, nearly every day.

Anne....yes...imagine you are a small child, from a broken home, put into the children's home, and you encounter people like this ? Who would believe you ?
makes you wonder who next ??
Minty....child sexual abuse has been going on for years, and its still going on now, especially against boys. The people responsible are always men in the public eye...Vicars, Teachers, Scout Leaders. They are only a small minority of those kind of people, but they are the ones you would least expect, like Policemen for instance.

Its disgusting, and entirely predictable !
As if his crimes were not bad enough, he pocketed £375,000 in libel damages. Will that be returned? Not on your nelly.
I can see why Private Eye held back on the Jimmy Saville case! I'm sure they knew about his crimes.
Meanwhile the celebrity threesome have just won a huge payout from the Sun on Sunday.
Be careful Gromit !
What do you mean, be careful. It is all over the papers...

// The publishers of the Sun on Sunday have agreed in the high court to pay an undisclosed sum of damages and costs to a celebrity who fought to keep his name out of a tabloid “kiss’n’tell” following a three-way sexual encounter.

The agreement ends months of litigation over attempts by the celebrity, known only as PJS, to block News Group Newspapers (NGN) from revealing his identity. The case ended up being heard by the highest court in the land. //

From his lottery libel winnings, he could maybe buy a Rocket, Man :-)
mikey, the men responsible for child abuse of boys and girls are not always in the public eye.

The ones that society perceives 'should know better' and are in a position of trust such as teachers, police officers, priests are the ones that get the most publicity when caught and prosecuted.

Often the reporting is very low key or there is none at all because it would be clear who the victim is, or the media thinks that the public aren't interested when it is Joe Bloggs who lives next door to the chip shop.
HC...what I meant was that when abuse is dished out by some men, those men are able to cover their tracks very well, and they are ably equipped to make sure that they are protected from detection and prosecution, by the Establishment.

The list of perpetrators is a very long and exalted one. There have even been some Bishops of the Church of England.

The issue for me is that I strongly suspect that this abuse is still gong on now, and the cover ups are still going on as well.

One of the boys, now a man, that Anglesea abused was interviewed yesterday. He made a very good case why his abuse and that of others went on for so long. He was a wayward child, and sent to Bryn Estyn, and abused by, amongst others by a serving Policeman, a pillar of the local community.

He was described as a tearaway, so is it any wonder that when he complained, he wasn't believed...who would take his word, over a Policeman.

What about today's generation of children ? Paedophiles haven't gone away, just to ground. Who is protecting those kids now ?
Incredible that he had the gall to sue and win against Private Eye for telling what was the truth. What a creature!
This cretin is due for a hard time in jail, being not only a senior police officer but also a paedophile.

mikey you put:

/// child sexual abuse has been going on for years, and its still going on now, especially against boys. The people responsible are always men in the public eye ///

Since you put, they are mainly men against boys, I have often wondered why they are not classed as homosexual/paedophiles?
AOG....I am aware that not all men who fiddle with young boys are homosexual, although, on the surface, it would seem to make sense that they are. I suspect its a lot more complicated than that. Its about power for one thing, and opportunity of course.

In the case of Anglesea, I have heard that that he is contemplating and appeal, backed up by the Police Federation ! You would have thought that the PF would be running in the opposite direction now.

But a lot of these men, and they are overwhelmingly men, are married, with children of their own, which is even stranger and more difficult to understand I suppose.

If we have learned anything from previous cases, like Savile, is that kids need to be listened to. I accept that the kind of abuse that went on at Bryn Estyn is probably less likely today.

But Bryn Estyn was in the spotlight for many years, before somebody took the issue seriously, which is shame to everybody involved. Anglesea is not the first man to be jailed for offence at children homes in North Wales.
//fiddle with young boys//

Horrible expression.
// As if his crimes were not bad enough, he pocketed £375,000 in libel damages. Will that be returned? Not on your nelly.//

yes on your nelly grom-grom

well worn legal path to claim back these things
which the payer usually follows with great delight ( and interest )

the threat is more time for contempt of court / perverting ( ha!) the course of justice / perjury

and I think is .... an action on account

Linford Christie, Archer ( Lord I think ) and that footie coach are all people who have had to pay back their ill gotten gains with interest and costs

The private eye ed was suitably not cock-a-hoop as one of the witnesses had committed suicide a few years ago.....
