George Galloway Attacked By 'glitter'

Another lecture disrupted, this time in Scotland.

With the political scene changing are we likely to expect more speaking events generally cancelled or ruined by protestors?

It is starting to become a bit tiresome now. The snowfake generation just dont seem to get free speech aand democracy and seek to suppress any they dont agree with.

OK, this time it was glitter but when it first came down how would you know what it was?

There were the "Jesus, not Billy" protests against Billy Graham in the 70s Khandro, for a start
We had all sorts of machinations: union meetings deliberately made inquorate by one faction or another who'd scarper when they thought they would lose a vote. I remember the Socialist Workers' Students Organisation trying to stop right wing anti-NUS protesters leaving a meeting to disaffiliate from the NUS for that reason! And the latter protesting about foul play :-)

ichkeria: ^ non of that, - perhaps that was later :0) Not to say that there were no heated debates. I remember one speaker, - can't remember who, or his main topic, but part of it was that he was opposed to inter-racial marriages, which caused uproar, and I guess he would be termed a 'racist' today.
His thesis was for the diversity of humanity, and as an analogy, if you took all the horses of the world; the massively strong Shire horses, the exceedingly fast race horses, the small pack horse with great stamina etc. and inter-bred them you would end up with an 'average' horse, that wasn't very fast or very strong. I seem to remember thinking he had a point, in fact, perhaps I still do.
However, though there was lots of arguing, nobody would have dreamt of attacking or even booing a guest speaker.
