Football Abuse....

There's a few things about this that maybe you guys can help me with.

1. Why did Paul Stewart go to the papers before going to the police? Looks like he put money before justice.

2. Why is it that these abuse cases seem to assume guilt and that everything the accuser is saying is true? What happened to the police basic training mantra of ABC - Assume nothing. Believe no-one. Check everything. It appears that now that it's; Assume everything. Believe everyone. Check some time later.

3. On the radio on Wednesday, it was reported that as result of the newspaper articles, police would be contacting people. Really? I didn't know the police acted on newspaper articles. I always thought that people had to report a crime to THEM, not the other way round.

4. The NSPCC are a complete and utter waste of space. I would say they are irreplaceable in a way cos no-one knows what they do. Set up a help line? Anyone can do that can't they? Set up a web site? Advertise in the media? They only exist so they can advertise for money on the pretext of protecting children in some way. My wife has twice reported abuse of children to them, and they said it was nothing to do with them. She should contact the police or go to social services. Their help line will tell people to go to the police or social services.

Apart from that, everything's ok.

What an extraordinary outpouring of drivel Clarion !

I knew this would happen....people doubting that anything was wrong in the first place.

You can find out all of this by doing some simple research, but here goes anyway :::

There is no doubt whatsoever about Bennell's guilt. He was a serial paedophile. His many convictions prove that beyond any doubt whatsoever.

News appearing overnight now makes it clear that Crewe Alexander knew all about his crimes, but still allowed him access to vulnerable young boys all the same. .

In the case of Savill, all the suspicions were conveniently forgotten about, because he was bringing in huge amounts of money for charities. In the case of Bennell, it now transpires that he was also ignored, because of his ability to spot and secure young footballing talent

Your remarks about the NSPCC are disgustingly ignorant. The NSPCC is doing a marvellous job in helping to expose that cess-pit that was football was at the time.
And it's attitudes like yours that put people off from coming forward.
Well said Ummm....I would have thought that was obvious.
The sad thing to come out of all this is the fact that there are many perfectly innocent men who give up their Saturdays and Sundays to coach these youngsters, and due to a few sick individuals they all stand to be painted with the same brush.

I wonder how many parents will be standing on the touch line this weekend wondering, is my youngster safe in that chaps hands?
They are not painted with the same brush. I speak from a victims perspective.
I think the sad thing is actually that many young boys appear to have been abused AOG.

There may be many as you say, but hopefully taken as a percentage of total amount of young boys in the UK, that can only be a very, very small percentage.
Jeez :-(
ummmm

I can but sympathise with you ummmm, that must be horrible for you.

I don't know who your abuser was, relative, parent, close acquaintance or stranger, but you must still have lost some trust in certain people?

So could not those persons be considered to have been 'painted with the same brush'?

AOG....what a relief it must be, to the 100's or probably 1000's of young lads that were abused, that they were only a very, very small percentage.
Clarion, Bennell's already been convicted - three times, was it? It's not unreasonable to assume guilt in this case.

Sometimmes you get more action from the police if you go to the papers than if you go to them; it embarrasses them into action. It seems to be working so far.
I'm sorta thinking this story is only developing and the press are trying to get big names mentioned .any case is horrible for those involved but big names sell papers .
In my case the police were useless. All they did was humiliate me. Hopefully 30 years on they are better but I wouldn't put money on it.
I presume the removed post was Clarion ?

If it was I would like to think he was apologising for the crass things he said at 07:41 this morning.
" why did paul Stewart go to the papers before the police" maybe he thought the papers would believe him.
The removed post was a reference to Cliff Richard.
The various Football authorities, including the FA knew all about the abuse, when it was going on, but did nothing whatsoever about it, so who can blame any footballer for not trusting anybody in authority ?
Thanks Randy....but an apology from Clarion would still not go amiss.
Crewe 'knew of claims against Barry Bennell'
