There was a famous incident when Kirk's youngest son Eric (sadly deceased now) - tried to make his name as a stand-up comedian.

Being seriously heckled in a late-night club, Mr Douglas Jr. took exception, and in a hissy fit, advised the crowd - "You can't do this to me, I'm Kirk Douglas's son!" to which one instant wit in the audience shouted back "I'M Kirk Douglas's son!", followed by another, until, inevitably, the entire audience all joined in. Mr Douglas Jr. exited the stage, unimpressed.
