My views remain the same as on the thread linked to by Zacs.

///After ringing the shop to complain she was angrily ‘told to get a life’ by the shop staff ///

Sounds like a fair comment to me.
Of course they should be allowed to sell them. If you think they're racist, don't buy one.
Would selling white dolls in an African country be seen as racial?I don't think so.

.....aaaaand we're off.
:-)
Just out of interest, I wonder if this complaining woman has any Nieces? If so I wonder what colour are their dolls, am I right in thinking she is a black person?
W
What does being black have to do with it? Racism is racism, the dolls should be removed and charges brought.

Voting for Brexit doesn't give anyone the right to act like a slave trader.
The reason I asked the Q J.J. If white doll were sold would Black people kick off or would they just laugh it off & leave the rest to the race relations Board. I'm sure my first reply was plain enough.
People's objections to Gollys is not simply about the colour of the doll.

I disagree with their views but they are entitled to them.
TWR, the shop was full of black dolls, there were no white one's. The public were not given the choice, we all need to learn about equality.
We all know about equality, it's the Minority out of the majority that causes the problem, I do not think the person in that shop was a racist person, it was a sale of these dolls and that was it, go to any Toys R us and see how many Black people go in there without issues regards the colour of the dolls, a big fuss from a silly woman who's got a chip on her shoulder & she should get into the real world.
TWR, if you go into Toys R Us, you'll find black and white dolls sat together holding hands in a meeting of cultures, that's how it should be.

The Saffron Walden shop owner got it wrong and should apologise.

We are all entitled to our own opinion & that's mine.
Time for a brandy I think, have a good night you all.
My granny had a golly throughout her childhood - she'd be 96 now - which was passed to my sister and me. We all loved it and the idea that it was racist never occurred to any of us.
