gromit you are turning into mikey, seats are not the only measure of political success, achieving the stated aim of your party is the ultimate in political success and Farage has achieved that without ever setting foot in the commons. Farage smashed the establishment and people, like you and mikey, who think the masses are too "stoopid" to know what they want and have to be force fed the "correct" opinions on any given subject. Well the "stoopid" were mobilised by Lord Farage and look what happened. Seats? just something to sit on whilst the state ship is steered by people like Farage.

I was more on about Mr Farage who I consider was a key player in bringing labour to its knees (although with Ed Mlliband and then Mr Corbyn it could be argued it was easy for him).

Labours present problems started in losing the 2010 election. UKIP didn't really have any influence in that result. Then they picked a bad leader in Miliband, yet again nothing to do with UKIP. The 2015 General Election saw UKIP grab 4 million votes which was impressive. But it didn't make any difference in any constituency result other than the one they won. No seat passed from Labour to Tory (and vice versa) because of UKIP voters. Again, Labour picked another poor leader. Labour's problems are entirely self inflicted.
UKIP have an opportunity to take advantage of Labour's disarray, but they played no role in bringing about the Labour Party's problems.

Gromit is right at 17:04....UKIP hasn't "smashed" the Labour Party. If they smashed anybody, it was Cameron and others like him in the Tory Party. It wasn't the Labour Party that went into a nose spin after the Ref. and had to have a leadership election.
Whatever anyone says, it IS seats in Westminster that counts and it has always been thus. UKIP has only one seat, that won't last long, as the occupant is widely ridiculed, even by Farage himself.
Farage has said on many previous occasions, that if UKIP were successful in bringing about a Ref. on EU Membership, it will have done its job, and would then disappear....so I am not sure what UKIP is actually for nowadays ?

Now that he is going to be swanning off into the western sunset, UKIP is finished as a credible political Party in Britain. They achieved their aim of alarming enough of the British public that the LEAVE vote was the result of the Referendum, but they have achieved precisely nothing else.
Does anyone know what UKIP policies are, on defence, education, roads, the NHS, schools,etc ? Even if they did have viable policies in any area, what would it matter as they will never be able to win a General Election.
Let Farage fly off and be our official bottom/shoe-polisher to the Court of St Donald if he likes....who cares ?
