In what way Ed ?? It would be better for me personally if more money was provided for medical research - I have seen many friends, family members and ex colleagues pass away in the past 12 months from various illnesses/ diseases, that 2016 was probably the worst year for me for a long time. I can't imagine it could get any worse.By the way, my wife calls me "The Eternal Pessimist !!"

^^ When I was actually in the Taxi to come home, a religious policemen in an official car drove straight into my taxi by driving through a red light at the airport crossroads. I was thrown against the roof of the cab ( no seat belts available) but managed to get out. I threw the driver the fare money and a large tip and legged it to the check in desk. I knew that under Sharia law the passenger is liable for an accident if he is using a taxi! The theory is that if you had not hired the taxi it would not have had a accident as it would be in a different place. No I do not want to return to Saudi!!
There are NO road rules or road law in Saudi so if an Arab wants to drive his Chevrolet at 100 mph on the wrong side of the road at night without lights it breaks no law! I was the only person in my Laboratory who was prepared to drive a company vehicle, so I ended up doing 250,000 Km in a 7 liter Chevrolet pick up truck. No accidents not even a scratch (until the journey to the airport home ) and I won 7 safe driving awards ! But it was 'scarey'!

EDDIE - my illegitimate half-brother was killed in a car-crash in Saudi in similar circs. to the ones you describe. I only found out about his existence then - another tricky thing to come to terms with and I'd always wanted a big brother, too. Ain't life great ?- you learn to be malleable as you go on.
