It’s difficult to see what material loss VW owners have suffered. They were certainly misled when they were sold their cars and they could argue they might not have bought them if they knew the true emission figures. Presumably they would have bought another car. I understand the government has not insisted they pay additional Vehicle Excise Duty (which is based on emissions) so it’s hard to understand just what it is they are to be compensated for.

It wont affect the resale value one iota.

No car performs to the figures never has probably never will.

Most people buy VW becasue they trust the build and reliability not for its mpg or emissions (unless they were ridiculous - which they are not)

I am going to disagree here about loss of value. The models involved are now tainted as “those cars” There may not be any factual reason why it should be so but I bet I am right.

I wonder if this means that in future when a fault occurs on cars and they are recalled for FOC repairs, the owner is going to sue for compensation?
