whilst being illegal, is it so wrong for people to make a few bob on goods that would only end up in the bin? apparently drugs cannot officially be re-used after being dispensed because of proper storage concerns.

One by requesting meds that he can’t use and the other by requesting more meds than he uses. That’s theft and fraud. So yes wrong. How can you even entertain the idea that it might be okay?
yes its wrong on every level especially when they are asking for these drugs specifically to sell on.
Due to changes in my prescription I have at some time had thousands of pounds worth of drugs in my fridge had to go back to be destroyed (some injections cost £450 each) These were unopened but went to get incinerated, also hundreds of pounds worth of methotrexate metoject pens that don't need special storage and were in delivery boxes not even opened. It is a big waste.

Yes it is a bit naughty and illegal, but is it a big deal?
Both drugs are injected although i am not familiar enough with Embrel to give an informed opinion.
Caverject is injected into the penis, so anyone who buys this must be quite familiar with the procedure.
Yes...naughty....illegal, must be stopped,.....but not a big deal in my opinion.

I am prescribed Gabapentin(Neurotin) for nerve damage caused by a big op. I only take one before bed now but was originally taking 2, 4 times a day. I titrated myself off them to my one at night and was left with a massive surplus, which I am using up before renewing the script. My daughter was here over Christmas and tells me that a strip of 10 sell for £10 on the black market. Bad stuff if misused.
My dad had a lot of morphine left after my mum died. He asked the District Nurse to take it away and she refused, citing some rule or other.
He could easily have sold it and someone might have come to harm from taking it, or even OD'd on it himself.
I don't know why she couldn't have removed it to be safely disposed of at the pharmacy that it right next to surgery in which she is based.

Cloverjo, its not as simple as that (is it ever??) Its to protect staff from allegations of drug theft/misuse. Additionally, it puts staff and their cars at risk of people believe that they may be carrying drugs. It used to be that if NHS staff took drugs back to a pharmacy for disposal, the NHS organisation they worked for got heftily back charged by the pharmacy for the service. If a member of the public does it, its a free service.
When I worked in the NHS, I used to visit people at home and quite often found large amounts of unused meds. At the time, we were allowed to remove them for disposal if the patient (or other house resident) was at a risk from the situation but otherwise, we were allowed to reorganise the meds, so only those in use were to hand, and put the others in a safe place but we had to ask a friend or reli to take them to the pharmacy. I can’t remember what the charge was now but it was charged per item and fairly hefty.

That is truly shocking. Have you any idea how much prescribed medicines cost? If not go look up usa prices, quote "The cost for Enbrel subcutaneous kit 25 mg is around $2,183 for a supply of 4 kits" and caverject is over £50 per syringe.
The people selling NHS provided drugs are on free prescriptions and abusing the system. It is the very worst kind of stealing.

I have to agree with Sqad that I can't envisage many people buying black market Embrel because if you need it medically you will get it, and its not as far as I know used as a recreational drug. However, I could see a market for Erectile Dysfunction medication. Not everyone is as virile as you Sqad x
