Why Are So Many In The Arts And Music Industry Lefties?
It seems nearly all of them are liberal lefties, why is that? Is it because they are usually wealthy so they feel guilty and feel they think it shows their caring credentials?

What is it with some of you, I have made a perfectly inoffensive debatable point from the question that was put before us all, disagree with me by all means, but please stop the name calling i.e. bigotry, ignorant, etc.

Returning to the original question, isn't it just an extension of the "shy Tory" thing? I guess actors are generally less shy people overall, but still the more right-wing ones might not be so vocal about that.
Maybe social expectations also play a part. Right-wing actors are perceived to be rare, so those who are (and they may not even be that rare) might feel less inclined to speak out for fear of ridicule.

It's not that there are more gays in the Arts, it's that there are more gays who are comfortable about being known for being gay.
This I think goes back to the earliest days of theatre and music, when eccentricity was accepted, and a gay community could flourish under its umbrella, a haven of safety in a hostile world. Men especially would feel comfortable being flamboyant and camp because, as actors, or theatrical staff, it was accepted as the norm, so there was no need to hide.
I honestly don't think the Arts has a higher proportion of gay people, but it does have a higher proportion of people who are not afraid to let people know they are gay, and that leads to the impression that there are more gay people in this area of the world, than others, but actually, that's not the case.
