It wouldn't make any difference to me what I thought of him if his proposals made me and 'my' country prosper.

Let's get things into perspective. If the American people don't like him it's only 4 years of his tenure. If they do, it's eight. Maybe it's time America concentrated on the things he wants to for a while. I'm sure the senate and congeress will keep the various plates of the worlds biggest economy spinning in the background.

Judging by the number of protestors, 4 seconds is a drag! But, that is part of the problem, his critics have a strange sense of perspective.

I wish I shared your optimism Zacs-Master. In today's world there is a growing persistent whingey culture from sections of the defeated camps who refuse to accept a given outcome.

"Respect the office" is a plea I would make to the president himself.

As I have said before, Trump is hard to like. He is combative and confrontational and all this nonsense about the size of the crowds at the inauguration possibly betrays a fundamental lack of confidence.
If anything, he's had a pretty easy ride from the press. Ok, they built him up to knock him down, but it is undeniable that without the press he would not be where he is today: arguably, the stuff that has been said against him has helped him. It seemed to in the campaign.
But he does seem all over the place: calling the CIA Nazis one miniute and praising them to the skies the next.
And if he ever visits CNN, the New York Times or the Washinton Post they will presumably get the same flattering treatment.

After a bizarre inauguration speech it remains to be seen if he'll actually be any good as a president. Given the evidence so far it is hard to see how he can be. But to do back to my first point, he himself needs to calm down a bit, shut up, and get to work :-)

Trump's past achievments are more than former presidents & many businesses, for which he deserves respect. Sticking knives in him now, at his top prize, is folly of the envious & danger for all.

I think that article makes some very fair points. I think its sensible and important to retain the moral high ground....Diplomatically we shouldn’t become boorish just because we have to mix with boorish people, lie because we have to deal with liars, or ill mannered because we see a bad example set. As a nation we are better than that.
I think people do have to earn respect but the Office should be respected as the Office and the process that filled that Office should also be respected, not because it is perfect but because it is how another nation chooses to operate and is broadly reasonable. No blood is spilled, no citizens are threatened or denied their vote. Military force is not used to to enact or support it.
and after that Inauguration speech, we can’t say we weren’t warned......

OK Naomi a bit of perspective Trump may not have filed as a personal bankrupt but it is pretty sickening that he trumps on about what a great business man he his but he has folded and filed for several of his businesses!!

That is why I will never respect the letchy man that he is!
