Apologies if this has been discussed before in news, but can someone explain why Trump wants to build a wall to stop Mexicans coming in. Has he given a plausible explanation??

Is it because of immigration or racism?

If it is because of immigration, why doesn't he build a wall to stop the Canadians coming in???

Attacking Trump for doing something that has always happened and something that Obama did better than any other president is just a tad hypocritical.

There's nothing wrong with trying to keep out undesirables. I don't recall Mr Obama labelling the entire Mexican people thieves and rapists though, not bombastically promising to build a 'beautiful wall' at prohibitive cost AND assuming that the people on the other side would pay for it. Then again Mr Obama was a man of considerable style as well as substance.

It's nothing to do with style. He is an outspoken person and some things are best left unsaid in public so you don't look like a racist sexist pig.

I just find it very odd how people can and do ignore any the facts because it doesn't sit well with how they want to picture their favourite politicians.

That's the thing, Talbot, he's an ass in public, Obama wasn't.

And his 'plan' is unworkable. The amount of money and time that would be spent on this would be better spent on practical methods.
So it is a combination of behaving like an ass AND proposing poor solutions.
Apart from anything else, this affair will set these two neighbours at each other's throats and that is not good. If he tries to do 'deals' relating to NAFTA he risks the jobs of millions of Americans who rely on trade with Mexico
