last time the matter of drone flying near airports was aired on this forum, the general consensus was that the authorities were just out to make life difficult for drone users. this was the front page story on the standard last night:-

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/revealed-13-near-misses-with-drones-at-london-airports-last-year-a3449196.html

is it still the view of AB-ers that this is a non-issue?

nuisance things and can cause air traffic problems..should be banned camera or not
I didn't know people were blaming airports. The idea that any idiot can be in charge of a drone anywhere at all is disturbing.
We have one at work and the boss had to go on a course and get a licence to use it.
Well for once I agree with jno and ummm.

Obviously there can be dangers by anything flying around so it needs to be controlled, licencing is clearly part of the answer.

There was such a consensus ?

It's not drones per se that is an issue, it's irresponsible operation. A pram isn't an issue but one doesn't wander out onto a motorway with one. There needs to be enforced rules.
well I wasn't in that camp. Shoot them down if ask me. There is almost no valid reasons to have a drone. Just toys for dorks in my opinion.
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, unmanned aircraft system (UAS), or by several other names, is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard.
