// quit, quit, quit. // - sounds like a Leave to me.
I suppose it is down to context and interpretation, but I don't read it as he is a remainer, quite the opposite.
His comments on his leader are unfortunate if he does win. What happened to the vetting process? To put up a candidate hostile to Corbyn seems like a put up job by Labour's old Blairites.
// Soft Brexit, Hard Brexit, massive pile of s***. Sloppy Brexit, messy Brexit, quit, quit, quit. //
To be honest, I do not know what it means.
Without knowing the context, and the timing, I do not know what he wants to quit quit quit. He has said he will not do anything to delay triggering Article 50, and that he will fight for the best Brexit deal for Stoke. Not exactly the actions of an avid Remainer.
There are lots of reluctant Remain MPs who have accepted the will of the people mainly because they might lose their seat at the next election. Tristram Hunt won his seat a year before the Referendum. Doubt if he would win it now. The fact that this candidate said he would do anything to delay Article 50 means he's a Remoaner in my book!
// The fact that this candidate said he would do anything to delay Article 50 means he's a Remoaner in my book! //
Where has he said that?
Not in the link you provided. There it says...
// More recently he took to the social media platform again, to state that he “won’t frustrate the triggering” of Article 50 if elected. //
I have done a search for him saying he would fight Brexit and drew a blank. If you have another link to support that he is a fervant remainer, that I will be happy to look at it, but at the moment There is nothing in your link that he is.
// Mr Snell, the borough councillor for Silverdale and Parksite, said: “I was clear about where I stood on Brexit, and I've also been clear on what I would do as an MP. As an MP it would be my responsibility to represent the collective views of the constituency, and Stoke-on-Trent Central made its voice heard very clearly – it wanted to leave the EU.
“So if I were an MP next Wednesday I would be voting to trigger Article 50. But I would also be pressing the Prime Minister for a plan that works for the Potteries, that would give us some stability, give us some security. //
Labour candidate for Stoke by-election brands Brexit 's***' and Jeremy Corbyn an 'IRA supporting friend of Hamas'
Gareth Snell
Really proud that the Leader of the Labour Party, @jeremycorbyn, is coming to #StokeCentral tonight to launch my campaign with our members
Theresa May voted Remain, and they promoted her to be Prime Minister in charge of Brexit. The previous occupant of this seat also voted Remain.
If Snell wins he is not going to make any difference to how Brexit is delivered. If Nuttall wins, the constituency will belong to the smallest Party in Parliament, and with absolutely no influence on anything.
The OP seems to think Snell is a bad candidate because he was on the remain side. So I pointed out that May and Hunt were remainers, and May in fact got promoted to be in charge of Brexit.
Now Snell might not be a great candidate, but he has said he will vote to invoke when the time comes, so I am not sure why he is any worse than any other candidate that says they will invoke A50.
