Clearly Bercow's recent outbursts have proved he is incompetent.

Isn't that the same thing?
The same as what Bednobs....I think we may be at cross purposes here !

The Speaker is there primarily to try to ensure that everybody has a chance in the House, and also to keep order.

Bercow is popular with back-benchers, as he is renown for giving them ore of a voice.
"He doesn't abstain, He just doesn't vote". Absolutely priceless!
The speaker is a Conservative member of Parluament. So he is obviously not fully impartial, and he certainly has his own political views.
His job is to be fair, which he clearly has been.

There is no requirement by Parliament to admit the POTUS to the chamber and speak. Bercow merely has an opinion that an invitation should not go to President Trump. If the powers that be decide to offer an invitation, then Bercow will go along with it.

It is laughable how you believe that anyone who disagrees with you should be immediately sacked.
He doesn't get a vote in Parliament (except to break ties). When he's talking about the Brexit vote, he's talking about the vote he cast on June 23 along with the rest of us.

How he voted or what his opinion is makes no difference to whether he is impartial in his role as speaker.

The speaker does not vote unless there is a tie, and he will then vote with the Government. It is very simple, and not hard to understand.
I reckon when he gets led out by his ear lobe that the position should go to Rishi Sunak..
a) The Speaker WAS a Conservative MP, not IS. He stood for election as The Speaker, not on a party label.

b) It is not true to say that the Speaker does not vote; he does in the event of a tie.
His accent like him is fake. He learned the affectation whilst sucking up to the very far Right Tories that Mikey so loves. He himself was one such before making a career move to the Left(but taking his strangulated new speech pattern with him) He is reported to have once led a "Hang Mandela" campaign, haha and the luvvies worship the little scroat.

From a previous thread.... works here as well I suppose.
"It is very simple, and not hard to understand"

It is for some people Gromit !

Back to Modeller. Just why do you think he "incompetent" ?

Did you think that before he spoke out about Trump, and he told us he voted to REMAIN, or have you always held the same view ?
Togo...all that you said just proves that he is a Tory !
The Speaker should remain impartial AT ALL TIMES. He didn't. He is in charge of making sure they all stick to the rules and yet he breaks the rules himself.
He should resign. http://www.parliament.uk/business/commons/the-speaker/the-role-of-the-speaker/role-of-the-speaker/
No chance of him resigning. He gets more wonga than the PM.
Ladyb....in what way was he not impartial ?
Bercow has now been elected Speaker 3 times. The last time was only 18 months ago, and he was unopposed. Any fantasy of him being sacked are just that - fantasy.

In the same way that Blair was a "socialist" ?
The Honour of addressing both Houses of Parliament is strictly by invitation, and there is no statute making it obligatory.

Reagan was first to get the invite. Clinton and Obama have also done it. Carter, Ford,Bush Snr, Bush Jnr, were never invited. So not inviting Trump is not unprecedented and not an insult.
Not inviting him is indeed "not an insult", but for Burkow to make such a public statement of malice is.
Malice Togo ?

He is just setting out his opinion, an opinion that seems to very popular in Britain.
The speaker's chair is not a seat for anyone to voice their private views to the world. It is, and always has been an impartial adjudicators position of trust. This little sociopath has besmirched the chair and tarnished every previous honourable speaker in the process, whilst diminishing respect for the office for all future holders. The only positive that I can glean from the debacle is that, the people who appear to be giving him their wholehearted support have been wrong on every issue in the last 12 months, so he is dead man walking.
