David Willets, sometimes called Two-brains Willets because he is so brainy apparently, was interviewed by Humphrys this morning. He was making a case for ending the triple lock pension guarantee.

This was introduced by the coalition government, in 2010, as a bribe to get us all to vote Tory. But the same Tories are now actively discussing doing away with it !

Shouldn't we be improving incomes for working families, rather than downgrading the incomes of retired people ?

A quote from the above link :::

"Pensioner households are now £20 a week better off than working age households, but were £70 a week worse off in 2001"

Zacs....thanks....you say the nicest things !
If people have planned for their old age by working and paying into private pension schemes, paid of their mortgages and, after pensionable age, are still working to provide themselves with a good standard of living I can’t see the problem. Good luck to them.
*paid off their mortgages*
BOO at 9:48 couldn't agree with you more. I'm sick to death of green belt land being used to build yet more homes on.

hereIam.....that is blatantly obvious from your posts !
Good !
Regardless what was being compared by DW: it's a pretty outstanding pension, final salary based or not, that means one is better off on a pension than they were in work. Does anyone get anywhere near the salary they used to be on ? I know I don't and still won't at the age of 6583 when the State might finally stop pushing it back and add their contribution that I paid in for.
