Locust outfits would be more appropriate.
Apologies for mispost above.

/// The Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council, which has been assisting with those who made refugee claims, brought in "care packages" of pillows, blankets and other basic toiletries to the Emerson community complex in preparation for more asylum seekers, coming mostly from Somalia, Ghana, Djibouti, and Ethiopia. ///

Seems like they are mainly from African countries.

/// Yahya Samatar, a former human rights worker in Somalia, fled threats from Islamist al-Shabab militants and sought refugee status in the US, where he spent seven months in an immigration detention centre. ///

/// The US denied his status but said it was too dangerous to deport him back to war-torn Somalia, and released him with a warning that he could be sent back anytime. ///

All under the administration of Obama's Presidency, it would seem?
Swarm...
perhaps they should build a wall! PMSL!
Swarm is such a negative word to use when discussing immigrants
Canada already is seeing a 'swarm' of migrants from the USA!
Problem is most of them are full US citizens not migrants to the USA from other nations!

Shortly after the Trump victory was announced the Canadian Immigration web site crashed due to the number of inquiries.
Canada actively welcomes USA citizens who wish to set up a business or who are classed as 'skilled' workers.
It has also announced that immigrants fleeing persecution who have been refused entry to the USA are welcome in Canada.

Canada is still very sparsely populated and needs more people.
Canada isn't sparsely populated, most of the people live the big cities and towns, its empty in the wilderness due to bears, trees, wolves and no houses.

Islay, Why is swam a negative word.

Webbo3
Canada is sparsely populated by any standard. It has 3.4 people per Sq Km. It is 230th in the world for population density
The no 1 most densely populated state is Macau (China) which has 18,534 people per Sq Km
The UK for comparison has 255 people pre Sq KM we are 51st in the world for population density.
I doubt the swarm, flock, parliament or charm of migrants would want to take advantage of the wide open spaces, sharing them with dangerous animals and extreme temperatures coupled with no infrastructure, Eddie.
Not much call for kebab shops and mini markets on the tundra so crowded urban areas it'll be.
As usual.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monaco

• Density
18,713/km2
Monaco is a principality of France not an independent state , but yes it does have a (slightly) higher population density than Macau. Both a lot more than Canada though!
Re: webbo, 21.06. Nothing wrong with the word 'swarm'. Could equally have been 'charm' or (in the case of jellyfish) 'smuck'. Just a word for 'lots'. I do love some of the more esoteric words for collective nouns. How about a 'pandemonium' of parrots?
I always chuckle at a Parliament of Owls. I'm sure the owls must be a bit insulted at the moment.
As to the sparsity of population in Canada, I once worked with a man who's home was the North West of Canada . He told me that in his remote home he could go a month without seeing another person outside his family.
