If it means that we can go back to a mythical 1950's world, where everybody was nice and white, than no....its not possible.

So I ask, what would recovery look like? What would failure to recover look like?

We don't need to 'recover' we could never have coped without immigration. The start of it was the 1950's when we needed to bring in workers from the West Indies to fill the gaps in the workforce made by WW2. When the first shiploads arrived they were hailed as heroes come to save the 'Mother Land'.

Most things recover eventually.
What is the main issue you are concerned about ?
The excess population ?
The influx of foreign culture/attitudes ?
The taking of jobs leaving exiting inhabitants on welfare ?
Something else ?

Your Poll Ed, presupposes that we need to "recover" and without a credible definition of what that means, its difficult to answer.

It's not about recover because recover is the wrong word I think.

It is more about moving forward with what we have in a productive way.

Economy's can recover i.e.; get back to prosperity but you can't go back to a time before immigration.

What has colour got to do with this? not all immigrants are none white.

And what do you know of the 'Glorious 50s' if you had experienced that age, I might class you as qualified to make your point.

I can't answer either because we need immigration we needed it back in the 50's when our grandparents decided to encourage it and we need it today.

AOG....I was born in 1953, and I can quite clearly remember the West Indian bus conductors in London. I also had West Indian classmates in school in 1958, so please don't lecture me.

AOG are you saying unless we lived in that period we are not enititled on an opinion regarding that period. I think that you may be wrong with that point of view.

Oh an obviously any overpopulated country needs immigration "like a hole in the head". A country should try to solve it's problems not do it's best to make them worse.
