Samjenko at 10:59 - BRILLIANT !
more than you ever want to know on kirpans

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirpan

a lot of these questions have actually been decided
no one has asked about a skean dubh and kilter
and the answer I thought was yes
altho you can buy just a hilt and a bit to stick in your sock (so it looks like a skean dubh but isnt)

tools of the trade - you can carry them but it should be to and fro a place of work

There is advice for butchers' knives - in a case in the boot but certainly NOT under the front seat !

( as opposed to a chair leg studded with nails - never lawful to carry one of those...)

and what about someone claiming 'jihadi' as a profession and then saying an IED in the car is a tool of his trade? yeah good point

S/he would have to prove they were going to their work though, wouldn't they?
Religion should not be an excuse to discriminate. If on religious grounds it is ok for one individual to do something then everyone else must be allowed to too. Whether it's carrying weapons or wearing helmets. Anything else is unwarranted discrimination. Authorities should make up their minds what falls into the banned for all camp and what falls into the ok for all camp. One doesn't need excuses to allow some to do something and others not.

And obviously some professions require tools that are not available to those outside the profession, and this fact can not be used to excuse otherwise barred actions which aren't necessary elsewhere.
