The reactions to this story are interesting. There have been many similar reports, of course. "Stockholm - rape capital of Europe" was the particularly lurid headline of one. The "hard" fact is the 50% rise in reported rape in the last ten years. The speculative explanation for this rise (" speculative" because the ethnicity and country of origin of alleged...

As an award winning swedish journalist who has covered the fighting in Mosul as well as witnessing the current unrest in her native Stockholm I reckon she, unlike others here, would provide ample evidence of the facts if required.
I would sooner believe what she reports than her Swedish ministers who try to spin an obvious lie that rapes are decreasing when in fact they are clearly not and an embarassing U turn has to be executed.
Some people ask themselves why the right wing parties in Europe are gaining popularity throughout Europe when they have ministers covering up the obvious to the danger and detriment of their own citizens.

AOG, anyone working in the public services was unable to take action against certain groups because of the r-word. I was once called a racist by a pupil whose coursework was late and I gave him a deadline. His 'community' rep complained to the school and it was investigated. It fell apart because the others in the class, all from the same community, said it was rubbish but it stayed on my record as an investigated incident which may have been influential were I to apply for another job. I'm sure that everyone who has worked in the public services has similar experiences, after 9/11 the concern was to ensure that children for that community were not bullied, nothing was done about frightened other children.
