Not yet.

There's a lot of possibles, maybe, coulds, and shoulds involved at this stage.

Finding oil is one thing - extracting it safely and economically is another, and they won't know that for years yet.

Saying Scotland has 'found oil' is like me saying I know where Kylie Minogue is - it's not the same as saying we're dating!
I think the Shetlanders hate Edinburgh even more than they hate London ...

Whose oil is it anyway? I doubt that the virtually bankrupt "Greece without the Sunshine" economy of Holyrood financed the exploration.
Hurricane energy appear to know what they are talking about Andy, do you have Kylie's schedule?
who financed the project, does it say.
Lol Sunny lots of Scots hate those in Edinburgh more the Londoners!!
I remember my grandparents saying that those in Edinburgh are more English than the English!!

I know what you meant - but that was a creeeeeepy way of saying it. unless, you're stalking kylie? :-0
mushroom - OK, it's the same as saying I know where Heston Blumenthal's restaurant is, but it doesn't mean he's inviting me round for lunch.

Better?

I am not saying that the oil is not there, I am saying that they don't know if it is safely and economically extractable, and they won't know that for a year or more.
"I know where Heston Blumenthal's restaurant is, but it doesn't mean he's inviting me round for lunch."

And nor should you accept the invite. Unfortunately he had rather a poor track record with his choice of suppliers:

Still, I suppose the £200k compo helped to ease his customers' guts ache.

Of course a more relevant question would be what happens when the Shetlands seek independence from an Independent Scotland. Who will the oil from the latest find belong to then?

I do find it amusing that the SNP is supported in Holyrood by the Green Party (without their support they would not enjoy a majority). The Green Party wants us to stop burning things whilst the SNP rejoices in "their" fossil fuels! In fact, most things about Scotland, their "Parliament" and their quest for independence amuse me.
Well said New Judge. You highlight the downright inconsistences of the Green Party. SNP honorary members methinks!!
