If the article is genuine it seems to me that the professor, and by association the university for it's tactic approval, are being negligent by penalising for something that contradicts their personal warped beliefs, rather than marking on the student's understanding of the subject being taught.

Ridiculous and limiting. I am all for gender neutral pronouns regarding people who are trans or binary etc and mixed gender bathrooms etc, but this stifles creativity and poetry of speech and is daft.
